Tim Saler joined Grassroots Targeting in 2015, conducting microtargeting on behalf of and consulting for campaigns, party committees, and independent expenditure groups, and developing the firm’s in-house voter scoring.
Saler has surveyed voters nationwide and has modeled voters across every precinct in the United States, advising clients objectively and using data to guide mobilization and persuasion campaigns down to the individual level.
In 2018, Saler’s voter analytics helped campaigns and party committees elect six United States Senators, including the defeat of three Democrat incumbents, plus two Governors and several members of Congress.
In 2016, Saler and the GT team produced microtargeting and analytics for successful efforts to elect two Republican Governors in Democrat-held seats, as well as multiple winning congressional campaigns, including the single most Democrat-advantaged congressional seat held by a Republican member in the entire United States by the Cook Political Report’s Partisan Voting Index.
Saler and the GT team also aided Florida Governor Rick Scott’s political committee Let’s Get to Work, capturing Donald Trump’s emerging coalition in the Sunshine State and identifying months before Election Day what would become his historic wins in Pinellas and St. Lucie counties, the latter of which no Republican had carried in a presidential election since 1988.
Prior to joining Grassroots Targeting in 2015, Saler was Deputy Campaign Manager to Florida Governor Rick Scott, managing a more than $100 million coordinated budget and directing the campaign’s targeting and voter contact programs. Saler later served as Deputy Campaign Manager to Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal’s presidential campaign, overseeing the campaign budget and delegate allocation process.
In the 2012 presidential campaign, Saler was National Turnout Director at the Republican National Committee, helping to build the largest volunteer voter contact program in the history of the Republican Party, as well as tracking individual absentee and early voting activity daily in a dozen battleground states.
Saler is a former Executive Director of the Mississippi Republican Party and North Carolina Victory Director for the RNC, with both efforts electing Republican majorities in their respective state legislatures for the first time since the 1800s. Saler also served as Deputy Executive Director for Political Strategy at the Republican Party of Florida and Director of Strategy at the Republican Party of Wisconsin.
Saler was named a Rising Star by Campaigns & Elections in 2016 and a member of the “40 Under 40” Class of 2017 by the American Association of Political Consultants.
